Issue Essay: Homework

Choose one political issue discussed on www.procon.org for your essay. Research the issue on ProCon and on any other resources linked in D2L or that you are aware of. You will need to cite at least 5 sources in your essay. You should start with websites: ProCon, On The Issues, and Ballotpedia and from there go to news sources (New York Times, BBC, NPR, Associated Press, Reuters, etc).

Open your essay with an introduction that provides a topic sentence, thesis statement, and a preview of what will be covered in the body. Your body paragraphs (no fewer than five) should consider all sides of the issue as you see them, although you should try to make a persuasive argument convincing the reader to adopt the approach to the issue that you have. You should include some direction towards a single candidate for public office in Fall 2020 (Joe Smith supports my views on this policy and is running for Georgia Senate…) In these body paragraphs, cite each of your five sources as you reference them. Conclude your essay with a standard conclusion that reviews the main aspects of the body, reminds the reader of the thesis and value, and closes with something to think about or a call to action.
