What is the problem being addressed? Is collaboration necessary to generate a solution for this problem and create public value? State why or why not and explain in detail.

The purpose of this exercise is for you to summarize and apply what youve learned about collaboration, collaborative governance, and collaboration dynamics in the last four weeks. You do not need to do any outside research to complete this exercise. Use your course materials, what youve learned through course discussions, and your experience to guide your responses.

Instructions
To complete this exercise please read the case (ACSADV Case exercise.docx ) carefully and consider the information in light of what we are learning in class. Then draft responses in each of the following areas (10 points each = 40 points):

What is the problem being addressed? Is collaboration necessary to generate a solution for this problem and create public value? State why or why not and explain in detail.
What does the convenor have to gain from initiating this collaboration (be specific)? Describe at least one motivation (Donahue & Zeckhauser, 2011) of one of the other collaborators (be specific). Describe at least one risk the collaborators have to take on to participate in this collaboration (be specific).
Is this an example of collaborative governance? Explain why or why not. Are there any obvious gaps in stakeholder representation? Justify your assessments.
Discuss the collaboration aims (Huxham & Vangen, 2005). These are in addition to the broad motivations listed above). Describe at least one organizational aim that could create problems in the collaboration. Be specific and describe the potential problem.
Be sure to fully respond to each question and sub question. Excellent responses will include specific examples from the case material, connect clearly with course concepts, and present a well-reasoned justification for all assessments and conclusions. Your responses should be as complete possible while remaining concise.

Formatting (10 points)
Your responses should be written in essay format, double-spaced with 1-inch margins, and include citations and full references. Limit your submission to five pages (about 1,250 words) in total not including the title page and references.

Include your name on a title page and include page numbering in your document.
Use APA style headings and subheadings to organize your essay response.
Carefully edit the essay to remove grammatical errors, correct spelling, and remove redundancies. Do not include any direct quotes in your answers. Instead, restate ideas in your own words and cite the author.
