What data sets, if applicable, or research are you using to support your conclusions?

HEALTHCARE ECONOMICS: Writing well is ESSENTIAL for professional advancement, and in job applications, you may be asked to provide a writing sample. To this end, one paper that discusses a problem or puzzle relating to health or health care is required for this course. A sample topic would be “Governments are penalizing hospitals for readmissions.” Then make a recommendation on how you would fix that problem. Support that recommendation by using references of studies that indicate your solution may work. For example, if you state high pharmaceutical costs are a problem and then tell me that shortening patents solves that problem, prove it. What study shows that? Are other countries doing that successfully?

Final Paper Requirements:
Your paper should reference at least 4 peer-reviewed articles (not including editorials) that were published in the leading journals in the fields of economics, health economics, health services research, medicine or public health.
The paper must not exceed 3,000 words (about 10 double-spaced pages in 12 pt. font with 1″ margins) not counting the reference page.
Cite the references you use following the format of one of the papers you cite.
All papers will be checked for plagiarism using SafeAssign as noted above.
The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate familiarity with the analytic tools we cover in class, to develop an argument in a concise, engaging, and balanced way, and to reference properly the sources you cite.

From the perspective of the faculty, the following points should be addressed:
What is the research question or policy issue? Be specific.
What data sets, if applicable, or research are you using to support your conclusions?
What solution do you have to fix the problem? Why should I expect that solution to work (be convincing)
