Using evidence-based information, pick a diet you would adopt for the rest of your life, and argue why would you adopt this diet?

We learned in class that Cardiovascular disease (CVD) affects over 80 million Americans. We also learned that diet and lifestyle affect the risk of developing CVD. Many factors influence risk of CVD, including dietary cholesterol, dietary saturated fat, trans fatty acids. These types of lipids are high in today’s modern American diet.

Many individuals choose to adopt other dietary lifestyles like vegetarianism or veganism. Vegetarians exclude eating all animals from their diet, but still eat animal driven foods like eggs or dairy. Vegans exclude eating all animals from their diets as well as all animal-derived products including dairy, eggs, and even honey. Some argue that the exclusion of animal products from diets will reduce the intake of saturated fats, therefore preventing atherosclerosis build-up, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Some others are in favor ketogenic diets, some others side with carnivore diets, some favor mediterranean diets.

Using evidence-based information, pick a diet you would adopt for the rest of your life, and argue why would you adopt this diet? Would it be sustainable for you to achieve it? Which diet do you think could help prevent cardiovascular disease? Discuss the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines in your own words.
