THE UNDERVALUED SPEAKER AND/OR SPEECH
For this speech, you will select someone you believe is an important speaker but who was not properly valorized for his or her contribution as a result of the speech. Your “site” can be the entire world, not just the U.S. For example, Presidents or world leaders, activists in social movements such as Women’s Suffrage or Civil Rights, or individuals who have not been sufficiently recognized for an event or role you believe should be more honored. Although this is still an extemporaneous speech, you may read from the speaker’s actual speech (a short version or the full text, depending upon time available) and discuss its context and the history of the speaker. It’s also necessary to tell us about the consequences of this speech. There are many negative speeches filled with frustration, angst, and hatred that you can call upon too that were or should be memorable for its place in history.
