Teaching in Nursing

Instructions: Read Teaching in Nursing (A Guide for Faculty 6th edition)

1) Diane Billings & Judith A. Halstead read Chapters 5, 6, & 7. After reading the three chapters, use your past nursing experience and status of our profession to answer the four questions below. Do your work independently, as your own thoughts, beliefs and values are important. You will find that we will all learn from one another, in this course!

How can we change our current nursing curriculum, so that new grads can transition more quickly and more easily into the RN staff role?
What is the gap between what nursing students are being taught currently and what they will need to know, in order to be better equipped for the future?
What is the role of technology now, in facilitating the acquisition of the requisite knowledge and skills? Where do you see it headed in the future?
How do we deliver the curriculum in a way that will maximize our desired outcomes of producing a competent and adequate sized nursing workforce?

2) Do a search on the three CSUs that make up our DNP consortium. For each of these three campuses:

CSU Fullerton
CSU Los Angeles
CSU Long Beach

Provide the school of nursings mission statement and philosophy statement
Describe where you were able to find this information for each campus
State the date in which each mission and philosophy statements were last revised
