Read chapters 11, 17-27. These chapters will explain how to write an argumentation research paper.
Write an argumentation research paper answering this prompt: Should a person take time off after graduating high school before pursuing a college degree?
Find three 3-5 outside sources on the Lone Star College databases to support your position. Quote these 3-5 sources in your paper as you present your side of the argument.
Quoting from 3-5 outside sources is REQUIRED for a passing grade on this 200-point assignment!
Follow directions in chapter 25 for quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing these sources.
Follow directions in chapters 25-26 for how to properly integrate the quotes from your sources into your paper, using the MLA format.
Follow directions in chapter 27 for how to make a Works Cited page on which to list your sources.
Use the Sample Research Paper in chapter 27 as your guide for formatting your research paper.
o Note how the sources are documented for short quotes (4 lines or less) and for a long quote (5 lines or more).
o Note the header, heading, title, and the margins.
o At the end of the Sample Research Paper, note the Works Cited page so yours will be set up just like it.
