Psychology and Law

You are asked to write a research paper that explores an issue related to psychology and law. The issue chosen:

Incarceration is meant to be used as a last resort when sentencing an offender for a crime. This is due to the harsh conditions faced by the incarcerated person and the overall damage it can cause in their lives. In your paper, explore the realities faced by incarcerated persons and how this might affect them personally (e.g., loss of liberty, family disruption, economic and employment loss) and psychologically (e.g., prisonization, post-incarceration syndrome, etc.). Do you think we should continue to incarcerate offenders for offences? How does it relate to Canadas sentencing goals and what most Canadians want sentencing to do?

The paper should provide detail about the topic chosen and should incorporate at least four peer-reviewed research articles from psychology. You should describe your research articles in detail and apply them to the research question. Begin with an introductory paragraph and thesis statement, then explore your literature in detail, and finish with a concluding paragraph.

Style
– The paper should be between 5-6 pages and be written in compliance with APA formatting. If you are unsure of how to write in APA format, you can find a style guide here: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/ge neral_format.html.
– Text should be double spaced, using Times New Roman 12-point font, with 1 margins.
– Be sure to include a Title Page (not included in your page limit), but do not include an abstract.
– If you want to flesh out any details of your topic, you may look to news coverage or articles, but these will not count toward your academic sources.
