This exercise examines CMI and the factors that influence CMI. For this exercise use the Excel file titled: Ch06 StudentWorkbookExercises.AB202017, tab titled CMI Calculation. The first table provides an example for calculating CMI. The instructor can walk the students through in class. Tables 2A-2C are for student homework. When relative weights for FYs later than 2018 become available, students can be instructed to update the MS-DRG relative weights by locating IPPS Final Rule Table 5 on the CMS website. Once the calculations are made answer the questions located below each table.
