Many modes of transportation play a role in the movement of goods through supply chains: air, rail, road, water and pipeline. In logistics, we should always select the most efficient combination of these modes that can measurably improve the value created for customers by cutting delivery costs, improving the speed of delivery and reducing damage to products. Different countries and regions require different considerations for logistics transportation modes. In most cases, it comes down to speed versus cost.
Consider logistics and transport in Japan identify the most obvious mode of transport used in the transportation of two unrelated products and justify your choice. Did they use more than one mode? What kind of packaging and containerisation solutions did they probably use? Did those packaging and containerisation needs change based on the modes of transport?
