Developing Professional Knowledge 5CL509 (Person-centred Counselling and Psychotherapy degree)

A reflective essay using kolbs, Gibbs, Schon reflective cycle etc.

Based on the Module description in the module criteria (attached) I originally chose my subject area on Personal development. However, after receiving and reviewing the additional Crib sheet detailing the specifics required to meet L01, L02, L03 outcomes (Attached) I thought this may be too broad. I am now swayed to change this subject to “Personal Therapy.” (critically analysing and evidencing the benefits of this to enhance my self-awareness and professional practice as a counsellor). However, I am not fully clear if this is the best subject area to achieve the module outcomes detailed below and would welcome the advice of the writer.

Module Description
The purpose of the module is to allow students to negotiate with academic staff, and the workplace if appropriate, to focus on an area of study of particular interest linked to their current practice focus. This may be for the enhancement of practice or for the achievement of more specialist knowledge and skills with particular significance to the workplace. Consider is it something that will impact on your practice? if so can you show how.e.g. It would influence your approach because you would/would not.

Module Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

LO1. Identify and analyse a specific subject area related to the work-based setting.
LO2. Critically reflect upon learning achieved as a result of the study undertaken.
LO3. Review recommendations for further development both personally and work-based.

I have attached the Module Criteria and accompanied Crib Sheet. In addition some online lesson PP presentations, SMART Method criteria as well as some journals, which you may have.
